Having your basic needs met and some toys is not a fair exchange for happiness, safety, and living the life you want. It does give you a slight bit more of a boost in starting, but you have to actually start. There can be just as much manipulation living in a nice house as living in poverty if it is with people who refuse to acknowledge you as your own adult entity.
It does take bravery, but most importantly, it takes being able to set aside what other people want and put in the forefront what you want. I believe I've mentioned this before, and may sound like a broken record.
