As much as I was dreading it, it really does feel good to be back at Uni. My new apartment is quaint, my roommates (well, they're old friends) are fantastic, and even though it's only been three days, we're already full of misadventures and fun times.

For Example:
I am the facilities manager for the Swing Dance Club. Twice a year, they told me, I have to camp out at the Union Facilities office at approximately 5am to try to beat the other organizations (mostly the other dance groups) for space in the rooms we need.

I thought they were joking.

They weren't.

I got there at 5:23am with my Roomie (the one who's been with me three years now) in tow. We were fourth in line. Seven other people showed up after us.

Upon arrival, we found out that they have decided to move the system online. However, the paper system, which we were all in line for, still worked, and I was left with an awkward decision.

Stay, wait in line, and know that I physically got the rooms, or use the online system that doesn't work yet and hope. Because it's first come first serve and if you screw up the form, you're put last.

Or, as the guy from Latin and Ballroom, who was right ahead of me, put it: "Go, return to where you came from and try to figure out that janky system we all know doesn't work and they told no one about, or stay with us, fill out the forms, and play some Euchre. Oh, and I have cheezits, if that makes the deal any better. "

Needless to say, I actually had a lot of fun sitting outside the office waiting for it to open and talking with the other representatives. And watching Diginmon Adventures. Roomie slept on me. (She promised to sit with me, I never said she had to be awake).

I left my apartment before the sun came up. Roomie and I got back as the sun was rising. Melly and Ky were just getting up. They swore we were nuts.

My first day of classes, after that, were alright. I have the worst Thermodynamics teacher at Uni. He has a 50-50 pass fail rate. Roomie had him first semester last year and was one of the 50% who failed. She had a much better second semester time. I am assuming I'll be taking this class again (not that I'm not going to work super hard).

I also had my first BME class today. My first ever one. In my major. I'm like, really a BME now.

I'm also approx 2 years older than everyone in my class, but...ANYWAY (No, I almost cried when my instructor was like "You've worked hard for one year already, now get ready to work for three more!" and the kid sitting next to me put his hand out to keep me from slamming my head on the desk. He was in my math class last semester, he's ahead of the game while I'm behind. So we're buddies, apparently).

But, at the same time, I'm relieved. Like, they're all in classes I've already passed. That stress is over, and I can be more focused on my core major instead of the random pre-req classes. And that's a great feeling.

OH
AND
My instructor was super cool about changing my name from my legal one to Jynx! He even apologized for not having it ready for the first day of class, and they changed it while I waited at the end of class. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Drakon was awesome and helped me find the forms for that (legally changing my name). I haven't started filling them out yet, because I'm still weighing options, but I know I never want to go back to my legal name (as is) again. I really don't like it (sorry Older Brother and Dead Great Aunt).

I have the smallest room in the house, as Twin pointed out when she was helping me move in. At first I was a bit put off by this, but then I realized I really like small spaces (as long as not a lot of people are in them and there's a clear exit). My room smells like spiced apple because I bought a scented thingy for it. It's very relaxing. Also the bed Cendri obtained and stored for me is awesome.

Do I miss B-Town? Yeah. I belonged there, and was accepted without (much) questioning.

But...

I belong here too. There's not a strangeness about this place. I never feel lost and am quite comfortable. If last week's melancholy came because I didn't want to come back, then I was dead wrong. It's nice to be home. It really is.

P.S.
I'm fostering a turtle for the year. My RA from last year recently got told that her turtle, Sheldon, was no longer considered a "fish" (by dorm rules) and had to be relocated and my landlord said that turtles are fine and don't constitute a change in the lease.
So...
TURTLE! :D
